Om Tavern on the Green
Tavern on the Green restaurant overlooking New York’s beloved Central Park is one of the Manhattan experiences that both tourists and residents take to heart. The building was originally a sheep pen, but was reincarnated as a restaurant in the 1930’s, then transformed into its present fantastic charm about thirty years ago. Set in fairy-like gardens, with Japanese lanterns and jillions of twinkle lights icing the trees, Tavern on the Green has six dining rooms, most overlooking gardens, furnished with crystal chandeliers, hand-carved mirrors, stained glass and artworks. From May to September you may enjoy a drink in the garden bar with live music and dancing, and al fresco dining. This is a great choice for celebrations. The eclectic contemporary American menu changes seasonally and features dishes like starter of lobster bisque with tarragon crème fraiche, main course of roast prime rib of beef with Yorkshire pudding, and dessert of chocolate pecan tart. Tavern on the Green Restaurant offers Prix Fixe menus for both lunch ($35 per person) and Pre Theatre Dinner (5pm - 6:30pm at $39 per person), as well as a children's menu.
A credit card is required to reserve a table, if there is availability for bookings - this is simply to secure your booking, absolutely no money will be charged to the card except in the case of late cancellations. A fee of $25 per person will be charged for a cancellation within 24 hours or for a no show

I am sure the Tavern on the Green looks amazing thoughout the year, but when we went, in December and it was decorated for Christmas, it was breathtaking. The was a nice variety on the menu, and we enjoyed what we ordered very much. The service was excellent, the staff were very firendly and helpful.

This was my second time dining at Tavern on the green, and both times were amazing. The food was perfectly cooked however there is always too much of it and I have ended up leaving loads both times but there is a good selection on the menu. The staff are very friendly and want to talk to you and you do not feel rushed in any way. Setting is amazing especially when it starts to get dark and the garden lights are on. Would definately visit again when next visiting new yorkRecension
