Eating while lying down has an illustrious history in Rome, it just took the madly hip supperclub group from Amsterdam to bring it into the 21st century and back to its rightful home. Expect all your senses to be titillated in this combo restaurant, club, performance venue and bar. As you’re lying back on your white bed in the Baroque Room, it’s not enough to just wait for Heidi to begin her semi-naked Butho dance and poetry declamation. You’re expected to get up and get a bit wild yourself. Performances are different every night – the staff come from art schools and DJ hotspots all over Europe and creativity is the heart of the enterprise. Staff have been known to wear, oh, rubber aprons. And codpieces. Sample menus include dishes like red turnip and fennel gaspacho with smoked salmon, lamb stuffed with truffle and red cabbage and carrots julienne, and a wild card like a traditional Sicilian dessert. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS ONLY 1 SITTING AT SUPPERCLUB, and a unique 4 course meal is served for 70 Euros per person + supperclub's CD nr 1. Guests are expected to arrive at around 8:30, and dinner will be served at 9:00.

A credit card is required for bookings of 6 people or more, absolutely no money will be charged to your card, except in the case of late cancellations. A fee of 20€ per person will be charged for a cancellation within 24 hrs or for a no show.

Supperclub Rome can only really be described as...interesting! Only the 'surprise menu' was available so there was no choice except meat or no meat. As it turned out, all diners had the same menu and we were all served at the same time. Food was unremarkable, but tasty and plentiful nonetheless. Warm dark and cosy atmosphere made us sleepy but the 'entertainment' certainly woke us up, what a racket! Could not work out if it was serious or in jest. Would recommend as a one off experience though.
