Om Stravaigin
Stravaigin is old Scots for 'wander', a word that nicely encapsulates the restaurant's ethos. Both the menu and décor evolve; there's a wonderful creativity about this West End favourite. Locally-sourced ingredients are used to create imaginative international dishes such as Indonesian pork balls with vermicelli noodle jam jar salad. For something closer to home, try the haggis - recently voted the best in Scotland. The subtly dark, leather- wallpapered basement restaurant shares a menu and nautical theme with the less formal café bar above. Service is informal yet informed. The staff know the menu and wines inside out and are adept at keeping cool under pressure, especially during the pre-theatre scrum. Exciting , affordable food without the foodie formalities.

The restaurant was almost empty but a large family with rowdy children made enough noise to make me think it wasn't. Thankfully they left halfway through our visit. My partner had to ask for another menu as the one she was given had food remains all over the page. I ordered lamb chops (£17.95) and got two so not worth the money as I was still hungry. Definately not worth the money.

Stravaigin. The service is very good, but even though from what I understand the dishes on the menu do change, I expected alot more for the prices that they charged for the two dishes we ordered. The taste was nothing special, something I could have thrown together at home. For £50 for two in Glasgow, I have enjoyed considerably better. I felt there was a mismatch between price and quality of the dishes we ate. I have heard that the haggis is excellent though.Recension
Stravaigin (The son) is better than UB Chip (The Father), and to be recommended. I tried both Straivaigin and Stravaigin 2, and both are good. They also do a fabulous monthly food and wine tasting (Return of the Riesling in July) , which costs next to nothing, and I am sorry that being based in London, I will not have the opportunityto attend.Besökare
