With its friendly service and lovely, simple Scottish food – The Pink Olive is one of Edinburgh's best kept secrets. The dining room here – decorated with pale sage green walls, upholstered banquettes and an eclectic mix of vintage and antique wooden tables - has that cosy I-could-stay-here-all-day vibe and is always busy with a hip, food-loving crowd. The approach to cooking at The Pink Olive is unfussy and down-to-earth, and we highly recommend the coq au vin with mashed potatoes; the poached haddock served with an egg and sautéed spinach; and the fruit crumble with homemade ice cream. Perfect for relaxed Sunday brunches, informal business meetings and chilled out evening meals – you're guaranteed to fall in love with this laid-back local gem.
