Om Matsuri High Holborn
Matsuri High Holborn brings the skill and prestige of Matsuri St. James's, one of London's oldest and most respected Japanese restaurants, to an all-together cooler setting bordering the City. Huge glass windows, clean lines and lots of wood make for a contemporary, comfortable and inviting
atmosphere, offering healthy authentic Japanese dishes from sushi (their
speciality) to tepanyaki (food grilled on a hot plate) served by friendly and knowledgeable Oriental staff dressed in rustic grey and black uniforms. You enter next to the funky bar area (tip: order a Kikkoman Royal. Plum wine with champagne, it is the Japanese version of Kir Royale), to the right of which is a sushi counter, while behind is the main restaurant area from
which you can peer at the team of enthusiastic and highly skilled chefs hard
at work. Many of the 30+ -year-old local business people who come here often do so twice a week, the experience is that good. Best seat in the house? Ask for a bench at the far end from the entrance.
If possible please specify when booking (in the additional notes box) if you require a tepanyaki table, a sushi counter seat, or a dining table. Please be aware that the kitchen closes at 2pm every day.
Opening hours:
Mon - Sat: 12pm - 2:30pm & 6pm - 10pm

we went to Matsuri for a working lunch - but the noise level was high and tables close together so wasn't the best choice for that. The food was good, fresh and tasty - but some help in choosing would have given us a better selection and all around us people were eating more interesting dishes. The deep fried sea food was very good and generous although the sashimi a bit sparse. Good reliable Japanese foodRecension
Matsuri High Holborn offers a tasty Japanese dining experience in a contemporary setting. Greeted by a stylish bar as you enter, the main restaurant lies to the rear. Having eaten there early, not much can be said for the atmosphere - if that's what you are interested in don't get there in time for pre theatre dinner. The food was varied and tasty, and service was adequate. The restaurant offered reasonable value for money - definitely good enough to be worth a second visit!Recension
Matsuri was a wonderful place to dine. The beef tataki was especially tasty and the sushi made to perfection. Reasonable value and beautifl presentation make Matsuri a must for lovers of japanese food!Besökare
