Om Market Restaurant
Market Restaurant, at the core of Manchester’s groovy Northern Quarter scene, was an early pioneer of this exciting area and now one of its keystones. Small and friendly, cosy, homely and reasonably-priced it may be, but chef Mary-Rose Edgecombe is serious about local, seasonal sourcing and just great British food. The Market Restaurant has been Manchester Restaurant of the Year, and quite right. Menus change every five to six weeks. New signature pudding: Manchester Pavlova – inspired by Manchester Tart -- lemon-scented pastry, custard cream, toasted coconut and raspberry sauce with a cherry on top. While the wine list is very, very good, the beer list is outstanding. Husband Peter is gregarious front-of-house.
Opening hours:
Tue - Fri: 12pm - 2:30pm & 6pm - 10pmSun: 12pm - 4pm
Her Majesty Dame Helen Mirren spent an historic evening at the Market Restaurant during Prime Suspect filming.

Market Restaurant, Manchester. This is a small restaurant, which was fairly tightly packed the night we went which was during the run up to Christmas, and therefore may not be typical. The service was idiosyncratic, the atmosphere very noisy, but the quality of the food was outstanding. It was a joy to be able to taste individual components of our meals, like individual parts of a choral piece, while also appreciating it as a whole.Recension
