Recension
La Villette is a long established restaurant with a traditional Belgian menu, friendly service and menus in French, Flemish and English. The homemade cheese or shrimp croquettes are excellent as are the homemade desserts. In an area dominated by fish restaurants, La Villette has a short seafood menu and Belgian favourites such as carbonnade de boeuf, waterzoi, a variety of steaks and tempting daily specials on the blackboard.

La Villette was a fantastic restaurant well located in Brussels, I had the Moules et Frites which was fantastic, there was almost too many mussels than I could eat. Service was great, food arrived quickly and the beer menu was great. Definately would recommend

A review alone does no do justice to how amazing the food and atmosphere of this place is! Bistro style restaurant serving local Belgian food… Boyfriend and I both had the escargot in pastry for starters, followed by lamb for him and guinea fowl with a cherry beer sauce for me.. one word – “fabulous!!” a must try is their homemade desserts.. utterly divine. Would definitely go again, and recommend to anyone who wants to try out local food at its best!

With bog-standard Belgian food at above-average prices, La Villette was very disappointing. Compared with other restaurants that are located even more centrally, the food seemed lack lustre and expensive.The atmospher was very disappointing and reminscent of a fast food joint with brisk waiters and bright lighting and plastic salt cellars. There is far better options - rather go and explore and find an intimate, authentic nook!

The service at La Villette was excellent and the staff very patient and helpful. The restaurant is cosy inside and as it was a warm evening there were plenty of tables outside. We sat outside which was nice except that we were occasionally bothered by drunk beggers but the staff dealt with this well. We would go back especially to eat the lamb and fries which was delicious.

Amazing food on a great summer evening! Glad that we booked in advance as restaurant was very busy, lots of locals which is always a good sign. The waiters were very courteous, though it took a while for them to clear the table after each course. As we had a good time we did not mind this so much. The toilets were very average (including the typical liberal unisex set-up) but clean enough. Would definitely visit again & recommend to friends!

What a place, small and packed !!!! Fantastic welcoming !! Food very good - only French wine, only down fall. We had the most fantastic gambas in a velvet smooth curry sauce and the rabbit was so tender and full of flavours. Not one tourtist, except us !!! A really pleasant expericance. That was Belgium for us.

La villette, brussells, Belgium. Visited September 2007. Staff were excellent, had booked two tables for us - one inside and one outside as they were not sure which we would prefer. Staff took time to translate those areas of the menu we could not fully understand and to explain their range of daily specials. Food was great, all traditional belgium style dishes, cooked with fresh ingretients. We left stuffed, satisfied and with a vow to return. Go, eat, drink and smile!

La Villette.........The Slaughterhouse............my wife and I have eaten at this small, friendly restaurant, close to the more "seafood based" restaurants of St Catherine, Brussels, on a November Saturday evening for the last three years and I'm pleased to say that we'll be there again in 2008. The steaks and beers are really excellent. The owners and their staff make you feel very welcome. No complaints from us...362 days and counting...CHEERS...ps/ it really is my favourite meal of the year.

Dissapointed with the filet mignon that I chose for my main. Very chewy and asked to put it back as it was not eatable. Waiter brought back another piece of much smaller meat and was exactly the same. For the price, not worthit. Waiter seemed to not like tourists very much also. Dissapointed overall.
