Specialising in Bangladeshi cuisine but with a sprinkling of specials from across the sub-continent, Latif is an elegant grand dame among Indian restaurants. Sitting smugly on one of Newcastles' most illustrious and historic streets, this palace among Indian eateries is a real treat. Ornate Victorian stairs lead you into the spacious dining room, setting the smart tone of the whole affair from there on. And the room itself is as plush and luxurious as it generally gets. The traditional cuisine will not disappoint even the most contemporary of diners. They wield an excellent menu here at the Latif and all at very reasonable prices. The choice will spoil you, especially when it comes to the side orders, so good luck is all we can say. Regulars rave about the midweek buffet night (understandably), but we rate the group set meals for the absolute tops in value.
