Bizarrely named Florence restaurant La Mucca sul Tetto (or The Cow on the Roof), has had local foodies talking since its opening – not just about the name – but about the superb atmosphere and great food. In a typical tangle of streets, just moments from the banks of the river this dining room is an intimate, candlelit space, striking contemporary design complimenting traditional surroundings. Hugely talented chef Tommaso Mauro has brought imaginative and inspiring cuisine to the kitchen, and to the restaurant’s accompanying cookery school, using ancient techniques and traditions alongside modern ideas to create something truly special. A spectacular addition to Florence’s gastronomic map, don’t miss it.

A nice evening overall. Very limited menu but some interesting, unusual choices ,and we all enjoyed what we had. Great atmosphere, shame the clever interior decor didn't extend to the loos!

La Mucca Sel Tetto is down a side street, not very flash or showy and so easily missed - we walked down and up the same street twice before asking someone where it was and,realising we had missed it's small facade, we were a little hesitant as to whether or not to keep our reservation - we had passed better presented venues on our quest for La Mucca, but in we went and were thoroughly rewarded for our loyalty - charming waiting staff, EXCELLENT food and some good value wines.
