Feeling fabulous? Then the Hudson Cafeteria, the restaurant of the Hudson Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, is the place for you. Philippe Starck is the inspired designer of the cavernous Soho-meets-Hogwarts dining room, the food hall of the superhip Ian Schrager Hudson Hotel. There are long, dark wooden benches, great gothic carver chairs, great floor-to-ceiling cupboards drolly stocked with kitchen essentials (olive oil! pasta!), all surrounding an open central kitchen. The menu is modern comfort food – top of the pops is simple old macaroni and cheese. Try starter of tuna tartare with mustard oil and yugu vinaigrette, main course of lacquered king salmon with baby bok choy, lotus, flowering chive and candied ginger relish, and dessert of baked fudge with ovaltine ice cream. Private parties of up to 150 seated, 250 drinking and nibbling, can be groovily accommodated at the Hudson Cafeteria.
