Tucked away from the bustle of the chic St Christopher's Place boutiques, the new deVille restaurant in Marylebone offers a peaceful retreat for the more discerning diner. Theatrically furnished with Venetian décor by top designer Stephen Ryan, the deVille restaurant's tasteful classic-contemporary look is complimented by its creative contemporary menu of world fusion cuisine. An aficionado of "fresh and light" food, Head Chef Jason Booker selects only the freshest seasonal ingredients, enabling his dishes to ooze with natural flavours. His health-conscious cosmopolitan menu presents a synthesis of Chinese, Thai and Mediterranean influences. For discreet diners, the 70 cover deVille restaurant offers a private dining room facility with an Orchid Garden feature, which can be curtained-off to seat 20. Designer Stephen Ryan - who has previously transformed celebrity homes - was specially commissioned to breathe his creative vision into the deVille. Using a blend of natural materials, textures and colours, he harmoniously fuses patterned fabric wallpaper with mock-croc and aubergine-coloured chests, adding sophistication with soft silver leather chairs and illuminated etched glass windows. Two masked Venetian figures surround a surreal digitally enhanced picture at the end of the restaurant providing an aesthetically pleasing sense of perspective. The result is strikingly different; quirky yet comfortable.
