Om Coach and Horses
Buzzing atmosphere, charming Victorian décor, top nosh, good value wine, friendly staff – this transformed backstreet boozer ticks all the boxes of a genuine gastropub. A solid, seasonal, Modern European menu is served up by unfailingly charming staff at both lunch and dinner. Starters may include a smooth Smoked mackerel brandade with parsley salad, while a choice of around five mains features the likes of Old Spot pork chop with white beans, watercress and sherry vinegar. When it comes to puddings, a gold star most certainly goes to the dreamy chocolate brownie with coffee ice-cream. A separate bar menu offers an excellent line in satisfying munchies, fat olives, crispy pig's ear, Arbroath smokies. A handful of tables outside encourage lazy summer afternoons.

We went to the Coach and Horses for Xmas group dinner. The service was really excellent, even when dealing with a party of 20 not all arriving at the same time. Food good but better on a previous (non Xmas) visit. The Xmas menu was quite pricey, but it's usually better value here - my mark reflects this. The venue is a v.nice pub with dining room attached as opposed to a gastropub, real ales are v.good here. Old fashioned toilets (if you like this sort of thing !)

We were really looking forward to this gastropub as it was supposed to be one of the best in London, but we were disappointed - it looks more like an old man's smoking pub. Food was very average and bland. If it's gastropub that you like in this area, then the Eagle or Easton just down the road are better recommended.Recension
The food at the Coach & Horses is always excellent. In the past I have visited in the evening, when there is more of an atmosphere. On a Sunday lunch over a bank holiday, it looked a bit sad and a little scruffy.Besökare
