Chez Gérard is a busy 1930s conservatory restaurant with a beautiful open air terrace overlooking the Covent Garden Piazza. Priding itself on 'the best steak-frites this side of Paris', made from the finest pasture-reared Angus and Herefordshire beef, the brasserie-style menu samples French influences from Morocco to Montreal. Open all day, seven days a week, this location is perfect for pre- or post-theatre dining or just sitting back and enjoying the buzz of Covent Garden market. Families and children welcome.

There is a cover charge of £1.50, which includes freshly baked French baguette, poilâne bread and butter, marinated olives and toasted salted nuts. Prices are inclusive of VAT. Service is discretionary, but a recommended 12.5% will be added to your bill.

I had previously heard good things about Chez Gerard in Covent Garden, but I have to say I have never been so disappointed by a meal as I was this time. The restaurant seemed to have lost our booking and staff were pointing at us and were setting up a table in front of us. When we finally sat down, after 20 minutes wait, we were in a really awkward corner, on a tiny table. The food was overcooked and service was appalling. Definitely not going back!Recension
