Carluccio's café in Bicester Village, the infamous designer outlet in Oxfordshire, has gone and got itself a new outfit. Still dressed up in its signature blue and white colours, the Bicester branch of this successful Italian restaurant chain is part classic Carluccio's, part clams-and-clapboard Cape Cod posturing. With wood-panelled walls and high ceilings, the café has a unique character, and is the ideal spot for post-Prada coffee and cake breaks with friends, pre-shopping breakfasts and leisurely lunches. We love the Insalata Contadina – a smoked chicken salad with green beans, potatoes and roasted peppers; the sweet Sicilian lemonade; and the Penne Giardiniera with courgettes, chilli and deep-fried spinach balls with parmesan and garlic.

Dinner at Carluccio's was average, nothing offensive nothing stunning. My drink took 2 requests to arrive and considering how quiet it was (4 table occupied) food and service was very slow. The food itself was OK but nothing stunning and the bright lighting and cafe style tables and chairs did not enhance the experiance. Overall fine for lunch if you're passing but don't go out of your way to visit.
