Let Ballathie House Hotel restaurant in Kinclaven, Perthshire, surround you with the elegance of this splendid 17th century mansion house by the River Tay. The traditional dining room, in sunny yellow paneled walls, moulded plaster ceiling, grand fireplace, upholstered chairs and idyllic views over lawns, is the scene of award-winning meals. Head Chef Jonny Greer uses seasonal, local ingredients to produce a daily changing menu that’s a fresh twist on classic Scottish cuisine. Most popular is the estate’s own traditionally-reared Ballathie Beef – you can see the cows grazing on the hills. Ballathie House’s cellar guards more than 350, but the best finale is a malt whisky from the bar and a stroll by the river.
