Ask any Glaswegian for directions to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and they're likely to ask "D'you know the Ashoka West End?" The culinary landmark sits on the corner of the longest street (Argyle) and shortest road in the city, where it's been something of a magnet to Glasgow's colossal curry eating fraternity for over 25 years. Its cosy, charismatic atmosphere makes it instantly likeable. While its bright, easy-to-order-from menu manages to satisfy novice chapati chompers and vindaloo veterans alike. House specialties apart, Ashoka's bestsellers are the classics - chicken korma, masala etc. Always busy; tables tend to be turned fast.
