Om Anise @ Hazlewood Castle
The Anise Restaurant is tucked away in the orangerie of the Hazlewood Castle Hotel in Yorkshire. The castle itself has been around since Norman times, but it was elegantly, and thankfully, restored in 1997. Guests at the hotel can enjoy activities such as archery, cooking lessons, and dining like a knight at a rectangular table in the Anise Restaurant. French chef, Valerie Hamelin, oversees a Mediterranean-inspired menu that includes Moules Frites and Tangine with Cous Cous. Light and airy, the restaurant has slate floors and windows surrounding the dining room, offering stunning views of the castle grounds. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Anise Restaurant offers superb food in unique surrounds.

Recension
This restaurant is set in fabulous surroundings which adds to the ambience, although it can be rather chilly but what do you expect from a castle? The food was excellent akthough the desserts were a little disapointing. Afterwards coffee and handmade chocolates were served in the library which was a good and comfortable end to our evening. We were slightly disturbed by a wedding party but this would not stop us visiting again.

Arrival at Anise @ Hazelwood Castle was via a long country lane, off the beaten track. A short walk to the restaurant through some lush gardens, suitable for heels, followed by drinks in a waiting area within the restaurant. We viewed the menu and ordered food prior to moving to our table. The food was devine and the service excellent. I would totally recommend the duck as a starter! The staff were attentive and the service was prompt but not rushed. I'll definitely go again!!Recension
