Earle
(4 Cecil Road, Hale in Altrincham, United Kingdom)
Celeb chef Simon Rimmer’s romance with British cuisine continues with his second restaurant offering..., Earle, in trendy Hale. Though known for his vegetarian venture, Greens, Earle is a more carnivorous affair. Expect top-drawer Northern nosh with an emphasis on local produce, Lancashire 28-day aged beef and fresh fish from one of the last remaining fleets out of Fleetwood. The modern, split-level dining area suits the town’s trendy urbanites just fine, and sets the perfect backdrop for contemporary British cookery. Firm favourites include delicious vegetarian Cheshire cheese sausages with mash, onion gravy and chutney; the crispy oyster mushrooms with plum sauce and pancakes; and the pork chops with black pudding mash and mustard sauce. The first restaurant in Hale to be listed in the Good Food Guide, Earle is definitely more than just ‘something for the weekend’.
