About Veritas
‘In vino veritas,’ as the old Latin saying goes, meaning ‘in wine there is truth.’ Although we’re sure that holds true for some, for the fine folks of Banbury, Veritas means fine Anglo-French cuisine. Using locally produced seasonal ingredients, this relaxing spot offers a multitude of menu options, from classy bar snack plates, to light sandwiches and salads to hearty dinners. Favourites include slow cooked lamb with Provencal breadcrumbs and flageolet beans, Sichuan peppercorn crusted duck breast with caramelised rhubarb stick and a freshly pan fried hake fillet with mixed vegetables, broad bean cream, rocket and chorizo oil. Fans of BBC’s The Restaurant might recognize Veritas as the former location of Bravo, Martin and Emma’s fledgling restaurant.

Overall a very good experience at Veritas. Our starters and mains were cooked to perfection. The service could have been slightly more attentive, especially as the restaurant was virtually empty. (It was a Saturday lunch time). However, would definitely recommend, simply for the quality of the food.Review
The food at Veritas was very good although portion sizes were on the small side. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend.Review
Veritas has improved its ambience after its facelift. It was busy with plenty of staff who were friendly and efficient. As it was Burns Night we were a little disappointed that nothing reflected this on the menu, apparently they did it on weds 23rd?? Food was nice but nothing to write home about. No bread was offered with our starters and after desserts were served we were a little fogotten. The menu had an excellent and varied selection and we would go again.Visitors
