About The Shepherd & Dog
Set in beautiful Constable country, Langham’s The Shepherd & Dog sets the tone for a good old fashioned English night out from the moment its ivy covered facade enters your view. Inside you’ll find fresh and attractively decorated rooms complete with original features for a traditional feel that will just have you gasping for a pint of the impressive selection of ales available by pump. Pull up a chair in the restaurant or bar dining area where you’ll be greeted by a fine selection of typical British fare and the odd international dish. From whole roasted rainbow trout to Barnsley chops and mouthwatering homemade desserts, it’s no surprise that locals return time and time again to dine here.

Staff are really friendly and helpful. My wife had the tandoori monkfish with coconut and coriander cream. Unfortunately the monkfish wasn't great whereas I had the butter fish with orange and ginger sauce which was excellent. Definitely worth a return visit.

WE dined at Shepard & Dog for my 30th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful, the menu had a wide variety of foods to choose and the owner informed me they regulary had guest meats, such as buffalo, and ostrich for those wishing to try something new! As a non meat eater there was a variety of fish, including the very delicious Butterfish, of which I had never had before, but definatley would again. We would happily dine here again and would recomendReview
The Shephard and Dog is one of the old breed of white wall/red carpet village pubs which has great potential if it were given a long overdue make-over. The friendly and professional landlord is eager to please but let down considerably by his gum-chewing waitress. The choice of food is good and it was quick to arrive. Fine for the 50% discount price although the weak and lukewarm Calypso at the end was a disappointment.Visitors
