About The Peasant
Boho pub on the ground floor; beautiful period restaurant upstairs, The Peasant is one of London’s original and best gastropubs. The lovingly-restored former gin palace keeps followers faithful with an accomplished blend of cosy, mezze-serving, mosaic-floored bar leading to a lavish, high-ceilinged dining room filled with circus memorabilia and Victorian candelabras. An adventurous, frequently-changing menu promises such elegant excitement as roast halibut, chorizo, and piquillo peppers with lemon rice. And Denham Estate venison haunch on a creamy parsnip mash with sage butter. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Food was great, atmosphere lovely for a Sunday brunch. Shame about the staff, we had a 1:00pm booking and at 1:15pm, we were still waiting on a few members of our party to arrive, when the staff told me that our order needed to be put in immediately as they were expecting another booking after ours. We hurried our order through, and at 4pm when we left, the mysterious other booking had never arrived. Service was also a bit slow, with coffee being requested twice before the order was taken.Review
Great food. Good buzzy atmosphere. Shame about the rude waiter.Review
Very nice food - the chorizo bruchetta was delightful. Staff have a tendency to be a bit dry and the smoke from the table opposite was suffocating. Overall, a fabulous gastropub. Especially once the smoking ban has taken effect.Visitors
