About The Olive Tree - Bishops Stortford

A stylish, understated first floor restaurant above the Thai Orchid in the heart of Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. Plain dark olive walls, palewood furniture, and high-backed armless leather chairs create an unmistakably modern space. A long central table with a candelabra in the middle hints at a banquette, and happily, you can expect something of a full-flavoured Mediterranean feast. A typical starter might be fresh sardines grilled in garlic, lemon and herb butter, followed by a tender shank of lamb served with couscous and a spicy tomato and chickpea sauce, or gorgeous goats’ cheese with pesto and vine tomatoes baked on puff pastry. Choose from over 20 wines ranging between £11 and £30. Attentive and friendly service.

Opening hours:
Mon - Sun 11:30am - 2pm & 6pm - 10pm

Good quality food - refreshingly different from other restaurants in the town. Would have been good to see more greek dishes.

We love the Olive Tree, Bishop's Stortford and the qualifty of the food and friendliness of the staff tempt us back time and time again. The food is delicious and well presented. They also know how to put on a good party and last night we were celebrating their third birthday. The relaxed atmosphere means that everyone, both young and old get talking to each other and dancing together. I've never been to another restaurant where this happens so easily. May their success continue!

The Olive Tree, Bishop's Stortford: The menu was very limited and offered little choice. That said, the food was really tasty. The apple tarte tatin, however, was served cold - a first for me - I much prefer eating it hot. We were served fast enough but not too fast either, so no complaint there. The decoration is simple and pleasant. But it got very noisy when a large group came in, making conversation difficult. Also, having cloth napkin instead of paper ones would add a touch of class.
