About The Meadow

Situated in an old, converted bank in the Western Road by Palmeira Square, adjacent to the famous Clock Gardens in Hove, The Meadow is a bold and delightful addition to the city's culinary landscape. The elegant dining room - with its high ceilings, imposing lampshades and pale green paintwork - has a convivial, family atmosphere. The assured menu has an emphasis on British cuisine with a modern European twist. Traditional recipes are influenced by classic French and Italian techniques, and created with seasonal produce sourced directly from small farms and local suppliers. Changing daily, the dishes on offer include favourites such as Cornish crab linguini with roasted peppers, basil and lemon oil; pan-fried rump of Longhorn beef with roast tomatoes and chips; and stunning puddings such as the poached strawberries with shortbread and clotted cream. The Meadow also offers a unique 'social' sharing menu with dishes to share between two or more people.

A welcome addition to the resturant list of Hove. We had alerted the resturant that one of our number was vegan and they had prepared a separate set of vegan choices, bravo!!! The longhorn beef main was extremely tender and tasty, although a little sparse on the plate. The service was very reasonable, although the floor did appear about one waitress short of ideal. Finally the toilets - unbelievable: completelely spotless and beutifully designed. Other resturants take note!!

The Meadow was empty up untill afew tables at 9pm.The portions were very small! the main course was the size of a tea saucer the size you would give a 2yr old to eat let alone a grown man! The food however was good luckily it was a girls night out,but we wouldn't go back again as we left hungry. We are not sure the small portions are just for the special offer, but it doesn't encourage people to come back.

When we arrived at the restaurant for lunch, it was totally empty. This was rather disappointing for a Saturday birthday lunch.
