What an amazing little place! Walking into the Lime House in York makes you feel like you've just stepped into someone's front room for dinner. It's homley and comforting, which is reflected in the menu available. I had an excellent beef dish, complete with a steak and mushroom suet pudding on the side. It was beautiful and tender, also excellently presented. Now I just need to find another excuse to go up to York!

The Lime House is a nice little place to eat. The freshly baked bread was lovely and the scallops were delectable - cooked to perfection. The quality of the food and the price of the meal made this venue very good value for money, but while I would dine here again, it would be nice to see an improvement in the ambiance and the furnishings. The lighting was not very interesting, there was a bit of banging going on from the floor above and the recorded jazz music was not particularly good.

The Lime House was lovely - the layout is a bit odd, very long and thin, but we had table in the main bit which was away from the door. Staff really friendly and attentive. Nice wine and lovely food. My only critcism is that I thought portion size was a little stingy - scallops for starters were delicious, but £8.25 for 3 is a little steep. Venison also good, but a small piece for £16. Best bit was classical guitarist, who played beautifully.
