About The Gate
The Gate restaurant in the Merchant City of Glasgow understands that sometimes you need the culinary equivalent of your duvet. This casual, friendly favourite starts pulling you into the relaxation zone with slouchy couches and comfortable furnishings so you can kick back and enjoy an extensive bar and menu that focuses on comforting classics. Sandwiches like chicken with Thai green mayo and peppers or even a classic carbonara pasta suits those with a lighter appetite, whereas bigger mains such as Toulouse sausages and mash with caramelized red onion gravy or one of their range of creative burgers is sure to stop any angry tummy-rumblings. Don’t miss the puds – our favourite is the glorious poached pears in a spicy saffron caramel stuffed with mascarpone. Bliss.

We dined in the Secret Garden section of The Gate. Me & my friend ordered from the Asian tapas menu and our husbands ordered from the bar menu. We can honestly say that the tapas was one of the best meals I have ever tasted! Will definately be back! As for the price - 6 tapas dishes, 2 main courses, 2 puddings, bottle of wine, 4 beers and 2 coffees came to under £80 which sounds good to me! Definately give this place a go - and dont be scared to try the tapas!!Review
The Gate is an amazing place to eat! The food is fantastic and cooked to your liking i.e. with/without sauce, less chillies, etc etc! The staff are very professional and friendly. I can't wait to go back.Review
It is hard to fault anything about The Gate, we had a warm welcome when we arrived, a choice of different areas to sit in from formal dining are to sofas, good value and advice on the wine, plus and excellent choice on the menu. (even the loos smelt pleasant)Visitors
