About The Criterion
Whenever we think of the Criterion, we come over all divine about the beautifully -restored, opulent neo-Byzantine decor, the burnished gold ceilings and marble walls, the mosaic and paintings. Anyone less cheeky
than Marco Pierre White would have put a swanky, haute cuisine-type eaterie into this venue, but MPW has created a high-level brasserie menu that somehow seems to be just the ticket. What's Cooking? Roast suckling pig garnished with apple sauce & jus à la marjolaine among others.... and the wine list is superb.
Opening hours:
Mon - Sat 12pm - 2:30pm & 5:30pm - 11:30pm

First time at the Criterion. Very good steak, but embarrassingly poor crab starter with almost no crab and half a shredded Cos lettuce. Also, the sort of waiting staff that endlessly interrupt your conversation to ask if everything is OK and clear your plates before you have finished. Go to see the splendid interiors otherwise this restaurant which is living off past glories needs to buck its ideas up big time.ideas up.Review
The Criterion continues to please. We ate from the Pre-Theatre Menu, which was very good value. As ever, the quality of the food was excellent and the service warm and welcoming. I have eaten here a number of times in the last 12 months and have enjoyed every visit. Thoroughly recommended.Review
There was a great feel for New Years Eve - it was party enough without being out of control. The menu was simple but excellent. Started with a Goats Cheese Tartlet, followed by Baked Scallops Beef Wellington and a Rasberry Souflet. All tasted great. My partner had the same apart from she had Dover Sole for main course which was also very good.Visitors
