About The Cricketers' Arms

Overlooking the famous old cricket pitch at Rickling Green, one of Essex’s most attractive villages, the 18th century Cricketer’s Arms ticks all the boxes of a country gastropub. Its two modern meets rustic dining rooms have lost little of the original charm. And the grub’s great. Light lunch dishes such as Italian stew and stirry egg noodles mostly double up as starters or mains. Dinner offers breast of duck served with bubble and squeak and a honey and orange jus, beef Wellington, and even grilled ostrich fillet. A suggested wine is listed with each dish; one of many nice touches.

We arranged to meet at the Cricketers' Arms to meet my aunt and cousin, and were held up on the M11 for an hour. They took our drink and food order by phone and were very gracious about it all. Food was lovely, bit pricey but worth it. Lovely setting (overlooking cricket pitch), friendly staff, clean and comfy sofas to sit in and chat after lunch. Would recommend and would go again.

What a delightful find - thank you toptable. A nice contemporary feel to the restaurant and friendly staff, although the noise from the pub does tend to make the restaurant a bit noisy. Main courses were around £15 - £20 but were beautifully presented and tasty. Desert was scrumy, with my partner still raving about the honey and ginger ice cream. Slightly more expensive than your average pub meal but good size portions and excellent quality. Looking forward to our next visit.
