About The Blue Bicycle
Located near York Minster, The Blue Bicycle has become one of York's dining landmarks. With a French style English menu heavily weighted towards fish dishes, an unpretentious, welcoming atmosphere, professional French waiters, and charming decor, it is no wonder this eaterie is often packed. The downstairs is particularly romantic and atmospheric -- it is allegedly a former brothel and the decor is true to it's blue period. Menu favourites include the chef's own spicy fish cakes with pineapple salsa, and grilled scallops with sweet chilli sauce to start, followed by a steaming bowl of monkfish and prawn chowder, or tuna with red onion, lime and coriander salsa.
This restaurant does not take toptable bookings at 8pm on Saturdays.

An excellent menu with a wine list to match. The service could be deemed a little slow but was perfect for our night out and it was great to be in a restaurant early and not hurried by the staff.Review
very good foodReview
This restaurant was the highlight of our weekend break its fantastic! Initally we thought it was expensive but the portions were very good.. the only complaint was that we could not manage a pudding as we couldn't resist the scallops for the starter, perfection and truly scrum-diddly-umptious! The staff were very friendly but frount of house could of been more social on our exit, service was quick and good wine choice's... why are you reading this?? Book... it's the best place in York!!Visitors
