About The Big Bang - Oxford
The award-winning Big Bang restaurant in Oxford's upmarket Walton Street is the brainchild of Max Mason, whose novel and successful idea was to open an ethically run chain of small restaurants that support local farmers. Mason has done just that, and the hearty, traditional English menu at The Big Bang – which just might have the best bangers and mash in Britain – is produced from suppliers within a 20 mile radius of Oxford. The restaurant's gourmet sausages and homemade pies are simply delicious, and the dark ale on tap is from the local Hook Norton family-run brewery. We highly recommend The Big Bang's acclaimed Oxford sausages with carrot and swede mash, and pork and apple sausages with creamed mash.

The Big Bang is a great restaurant if you fancy a quality sausage & mash feast. The atmosphere upstairs is homely and they have great local ales as well. The food is very good and you get to choose from a vast variety of sausages, types of mash and gravy (or jus). And it's not too expensive! Overall, highly recommended!

I'd walked past the Big Bang on Walton Street for years, and knew it was supposed to be good, but had somehow never got round to going in. What a mistake! Excellent value, and a really enjoyable evening, helped along by really attentive service. There's a good range of gourmet sausages to choose from, and locally brewed beers to round it all off. I will certainly be going back.Visitors
