About Tandoori Raj
Tandoori Raj restaurant (formerly the Red Pepper) is a few steps from London’s thriving High Holborn and just five minutes’ stroll from the Holborn and Chancery Lane tube stations. Almost next door to the LSE and BPP Law School, you can’t miss the prime corner location with its bright blue awning. The interior is an oasis of modern calm with white table linens and alluring aromas filling the air. The imaginative modern Indian menu features signature dishes of Shatkora chicken with citron fruit, Raj Special Thali with king prawn, lamb curry, sagaloo, pilau, Peshwari naan and raita, and Cocktail Bahar with lamb kebab and tikka and chicken tikka and tandoori. A favourite with lawyers and students (who get a discount), Tandoori Raj features an incredible steal of a lunch buffet.

A little soulless and empty at 7.30 on a Thursday night but absolutely no complaints about the food. My korai was superb as was my partner's balti. Big portions, quick service, Cobra and Kingfisher available (although our Cobras were not exactly chilled), and decent variety on the menu. I would definitely come back - although beware of noisy students (the irritating know-it-alls, not the drunk kind).

Tandoori Raj near Holborn is a small, attractive restaurant serving a wide variety of standard and "chef's special" dishes. Service was very fiendly and attentive, the food well prepared, nicley presented and tasty. Presentation and cleanliness were also excellent making the visit a real pleasure. The Tandoori Raj was empty on Saturday night. Despite this we were placed in the coldest part of the restaurant. One of the waiter's was a complete misery and slouched over looking annoyed when we asked him for drinks (the other waiter was pleasant though). I asked twice for DRY white wine and both times got some sort of sugary syrup. They didn't give us 50% off the bill until we pointed it out. Admittedly the food was OK but not really worth it for the lack of atmosphere and surly staff.Visitors
