When a restaurant has survived for forty years in the extraordinarily competitive capital - and not merely survived, but thrived, you have to ask yourself, what are they doing right? In the case of Marquis, the answer is 'just about everything'. The modern, minimalist decor is both comfortable and stylish. The welcome of the staff couldn't be warmer or more genuine. The menu - modern European, with major Italian influences - uses excellent ingredients that bring vigorous, hearty flavours. Oh, and it's family-run (the founder's son is chef).
