About Sanctum

Sanctum forms part of One Ten, a stunning four-storey bar and former bank in Birmingham's business district. The dŽcor is reminiscent of a modern French bistro; softly-lit, sophisticated, welcoming and surprisingly cosy. The earthy-toned upholstered banquettes flanking each wall are usually filled with lingering lunchers and after-work drinkers and diners. International influences dominate a diverse menu. Regulars regularly order chicken yakitori, and the crispy aromatic duck pancakes. British bestsellers include steak and Guinness pie; a safe bet like the fine burgers, which can come with a variety of toppings. Sanctum staff's waiting skills remind you there's an art to good service. Good on them.

Had a great meal at the Santum restaurant. The food was really tasty. The restaurant was quiet, which i think was due to a private party in the santum bar upstairs. The restaurant is not very well advertised and not obvious that there is a restaurant (which is hidden in the basement). I would definately eat there again and would reccommend it to anyone. The menu is varied with a choice for everyone.

Meal at Sanctum. Venue wwas strange as when at the bar we didn't even realise there was a restaurant. The bar was nice and the restaurant was in the basement. Although the entrance was strange down to the basement the food was very very tasty. I was disapointed they only had 2 vegetarian main courses and two vegetarian starters, but my choice was out of this world - very reccommended. There was lots of choice for meat eaters

On decending the spiral staircase, we were welcomed warmly and shown to our table. Although we were early, this seemed to be no problem, as Sanctum was largely empty. Largely successful starters - the yakitori chicken and leek 'kebab' made interesting by a honey sauce - were let down by mains that didn't quite deliver. Despite the lack of custom, some menu items and our first-choice wine were not available. Shame, as it could be good. Still, the bill, with 25% food discount, was less than £50.
