About Rose and Crown - York
Its latest reincarnation as a gastropub made the Rose and Crown a hot spot in the attractive old village of Sutton on the Forest in York. Multi award-winning head chef Adam Jackson, a pupil of Michelin star-holding chef Jeff Bland, is now happily at home in the kitchen serving up impressive, often sublime, Modern British seafood and local meat, game and poultry dishes - light lunches by day, and a la carte main from £10.50 by night. Daily specials are invitingly chalked up on boards. The setting is equally as beguiling. You’re welcomed into a modern darkwood bar surrounded with wooden tables, mismatched upholstered chairs, and a blazing fire at the other end of the oak floor. Very professional service.

The Rose and Crown in Sutton on the Forest near York provided us with an excellent meal. Service was swift but not rushed and the food itself was excellent - lots of nice fish dishes. The warm homemade bread rolls were excellent as were the little pistachio chocs that came with the coffee. Will make a point of going again soonReview
We ordered steaks one medium rare and one rare they got mixed up we ended up with the wrong steaks although the rare one was changed it took the shine off the meal the waiter was a bit dizzyReview
We visited the Rose and Crown in Sutton on the Forest near York on Friday 3rd July 2007. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The food was superb, the venison was the best we have had. An absolute feast on a plate. Absolutely first class surroundings, very relaxing. Will certainly go again.Visitors
