About Rooburoo

If you like a sense of humour with your supper, Rooburoo will have you smiling into your samosas. That’s if you can find it among the stalls of Chapel Market. It offers more than just ‘rooby murrays’ (mighty fine as they are), offering deceptively simple dishes from all regions of India, many of them particularly healthy such as pathrani machli – seabass in green herbs and lemon juice presented in a banana leaf. Everything tastes decidedly homemade and is served with a smile on stylish wooden platters. Music is modern (strictly no sitars), and the portraits everywhere as off-beat as the wonderfully friendly staff. Rooburoo is being showered with awards in 2007; its been voted one of Time Out's top five restaurants, "No. 1 value restaurant in London and the South East" by the Sunday Times, and "Best of London" by the Evening Standard.

Please note - the last available time for lunch is 2pm.

Pro's: Good food in decent surroundings at a reasonable price with toptable offer. Tasty, contemporary, imaginative indian cuisine. Good choice of meat, fish, veggie dishes. Con's: Desserts are a bit hit and miss and to much on the creamy side, please take more care with the kulfi. The interior could do with some acoustic wall/ceiling panelling to absorb the noise, which is a problem in many restaurants and pubs and we don't like to shout over dinner or a drink.

If you're a little jaded by the standard Indian restaurant experience, head to Rooburoo. All your favourites but with a modern funky twist and absolutely superb quality food - we were blown away by the pops and chutneys and the rest of the meal was divine. Beautiful presentation, great service - yum yum!

I enjoyed the food, the price was not as transparent as it seems. There is an additinal cost if you pick certain items on the menu, you only find this out right at the end. Make sure you ask what the offer is and etc...
