Resto.Bar restaurant and bar in Brussels Upper Town close to the Palais de Justice has inspired great word-of-mouth since its opening. Originality is the word here. The bright, breezy very stylish modern décor invites a certain in-the-know crowd. There is exposed brick, chocolate leather, pale marshmallow walls, striking original art, and soft pink candles – modern, yes, but at the crossroads of several styles. As is the international fusion menu. All dishes are a treat for the eye, uniquely served in straight-sided glass dishes, rather like small trifle dishes. They call it a ‘naked feast’ and it does encourage grazing across several continental cuisines. You might try a ‘fraicheur’ of arugula with parmesan croquant, pasta of gnocchi Nobu style or Tuscan penne, ‘inedit’ with mysterious names like Le Wallaby Royal or unmysterious ones like tuna burger, and ‘after’ of moelleux of chocolate à la chlorphylle.
The wine list is just as omni-global as the cuisine and the bar drinks look splendid in the clear glasses. Groups up to 50 are welcome here.
