About Red Onion
John Quigley returned to his hometown of Glasgow several years ago after having earned his stripes in some of London's most renowned kitchens, and serving as private chef for rock bigwigs. Red Onion is his own baby, a charming restaurant in the heart of the City. The onionskin-hued awning and interior details carry the theme through. Mr Quigley himself may well come out to check that all is well, it's a hands-on operation. The menu is maximally eclectic, right for the way we eat today. Open from breakfast through the day. The menu includes dishes like starter of tempura king prawn with ponzu sauce, main course of finnan haddie with mash, poached egg and mornay sauce, and dessert of creme caramel. Salads and sandwiches are also on offer.
Please note - this restaurant does not take toptable bookings at the weekend.Last orders are at 10pm everyday.

Red Onion proved to live up to the majority of previous reviews. The service was just right, attentive but in no way obtrusive. The range and quality of the food was good. Would recommend.

Good range of tasty food, well presented, and we had an excellent bottle of wine. My roast pumpkin risotto was very good, but the inclusion of a lot of whole hazelnuts seemed a bit strange. But otherwise a very good, reasonably priced meal in pleasant surroundings with friendly staff, so I'd highly recommend it.Review
A very relaxed atmosphere in the Red Onion Restaurant, Glasgow. All of our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals - service great and staff very pleasant. Would most certainly return.Visitors
