We visited the Queens Head and Artichoke for Sunday lunch. The food wasn't great. I had roast beef which was only warm and the roast poatato was a huge soft lump. The deserts and cheese were different to how they were explained on the menu which was odd as there was a specifically printed menu for that day. Surely they could have had a look in the fridge in the morning! The atmosphere is good and it feels cosy inside. I will probably give it another go to see if it was an off day.

Busy gastropub with a short but interesting menu. We shared the tapas which were good although more meze than tapas!! Service was good with a very friendly Italian waiter. Good wine list. Quite noisy as it is pub.

Queens Head and Artichoke - good starters, main courses slightly disappointing but service very good considering there was a big group in

Great looking pub with excellent bar staff, the food was good although my steak was a little greasy, but all in all good atmosphere and a great place for a long lunch.

Went to the Queen's Head & Artichoke for a works night out. There were 15 of us in total and I was advised when I booked that given the large number of people, the menu would be reduced. I think the menu was too limited and could have been less 'gamey' - with only 4 main courses to choose from, 2 of those were pheasant and venison - I was worried that my colleagues may not find something they'd enjoy. However, everyone did have a lovely meal and the venison was particularly tender and tasty.

We were downstairs - beautiful shabby chic and staff were v friendly. I spotted a minor celeb n it was buzzing by the time we left, on only a Monday night! Great choice of tapas, and some lovely tasting dishes... BUT some dishes were barely warm, and the lamb kebabs had to be sent back as it was undercooked (they sent 2 complimentary dishes which was kind but the lamb came back again half pink, half brown). Such a shame as we loved the food and the place otherwise!

A third visit and I am not disappointed. Warm friendly efficient service, calm atmosphere and timing of the food perfect. We got given an ice bucket with the white wine which I was pleased about, as it's not always offered in some places. The food including tapas is high quality and highly recommended.

The Queen's Head & Artichoke in Albany Street is not somewhere that immediately lends itself to passing restaurant trade. It's extrenal appearance would make you think it was strictly a pub however, the food is extremely good, it's presented well and it's waiting staff attentive. The ambience was dire though. We were two diners in their dining room capable of holding at least another 60 people and no one asked us whether we wanted to move downstairs. As my old Headmaster said "should try harder"

The Artichoke (upstairs restaurant of The QH pub) serves pretty good food - I'd be very pleased if my local did as well. Starters were great (huge choice) but the mains were a little bit of a let down (too stoggy) and the deserts, although tasty, had seen too much of the inside of the frig. Still, not a bad place with a good, interesting menu and an easy-going atmosphere.
