A modern European restaurant with strong Portuguese, French and Mediterranean influences, Portal reflects the passion of veteran restaurateur and owner, Antonio Correia. Exquisitely fresh and simple flavours, a convivial atmosphere and unobtrusive service are the hallmarks of this new Clerkenwell restaurant.
The bar area is a meeting point for those wishing to enjoy an aperitif: dry chilled sherry or a glass of Fontaria Branca, the house white, are current favourites. It is also a relaxed eating area for those wanting a light meal of ?petiscos? ? Latin tapas.
Between the bar, and the bright and spacious dining area with its constant buzz of chatter, is the soul of the restaurant, the busy kitchen. Here classics including roasted sea bass with sun-dried tomato risotto, herb-crusted lamp rump and perennial favourite, braised wild boar are created.
