About Pomegranates

Pomegranates is the sort of quirky, welcoming, cosy, club-like place that, once you discover it, makes you feel like you're one of London's insiders. The seventies decor is original, not retro, and features antique mirrors and paintings. But the focus is on the food.
What's cooking?
Pomegranates has a very reasonable claim to the best steak tartare in London from Aberdeen Angus beef, but the cosmopolitan menu also features West Indian curried goat, and Cantonese roast duck.

I've heard about Pomegranates and always fancied eating there. It didn't disappoint. Ours was a flying visit but a delightful one. The staff were so courteous and friendly and no-one grumbled when we didn't stick to the Christmas set menu. My steak was wonderful and my companion's lamb was memorably good. We'll definitely go back.

Pomegranetes is a bit of a blast from the past - authentic 70s decor is one thing (and a bit dusty it is too in the dark recesses between lights and mirrored ceilings...) authentic 70s food is another - although strangely comforting and tasty actually on our recent visit. The only serious complaint is the price - £40 per head for smoked salmon from the smorgasboard, turkey and christmas pud is pushing the season of goodwill to restauranteurs s bit too far for me...but I'd return to try the card.

Pomegranates. I was a little disspointed as I had heard it had the best steak tartar in town but we had to choose from a Christmas Menu which did not include steak tartar. The soup had too much cognac in it I was drank by the time I finished it and which did spoil the taste. The main was also mediocre and I felt it was expensive for what it was but may be we chose badly.
