As ever The Plumed Horse never fails to disappoint. Food is of the highest quality, service is efficient and friendly without being intrusive and the decor and ambience of the restaurant is progressing well. This has to be one of the best value restaurants in Edinburgh.

Having dined for lunch and now dinner I found the lunch to be of an overall higher standard with the service on both occasions being the highlight.

The Plumed Horse is very welcoming, has an extensive and well priced fine wine list and interesting though smallish menu. Wonderful amuse bouche followed by well executed food. A totally enjoyable gastronomic experience.

Food and service were lovely - though it was slightly lacking in atmosphere.

This was our 4th visit to The Plumed Horse and once again the culinary experience was first class. Our table of four sampled the whole menu and it was a testament to the quality of the all the dishes, skillfully prepared by chef Tony Borthwick, that we just couldn't decide on a favourite. From the extensive wine list which, has wines to suit all budgets, to the friendly attentive service, this restaurant oozes quality in every department. We look forward to returning again soon.

We dined at the Plumed Horse on the recommendation of a friend who had dined there previously. The recommendation was well-founded. A quiet well-appointed restaurant with just the right blend of formaiity and friendliness. The menu was well-balanced and our choices excellently presented. Particularly enjoyable were the cheese souffles to start, the venison main and the chocolate fondant dessert. Chateau Musar complemented the meal, served in excellent condition and at the correct temperature

While set in the less fashionable part of Leith, the welcome at the Plumed Horse is warm and genuine. The service was at the end of the evening. We may have felt overlooked as we were shuffled off to a small side room with 2 other couples on our first visit. A pity as the main restaurant seemed pleasant and lively. The food more than compensates though for any (small) failings - good quality ingredients, served beautifully and thoughtfully. Go and try the Plumed Horse - you won't regret it.
