Eleven of us travelled up from Newcastle for a Christmas shopping day out and had lunch from the Christmas menu at Petit Paris. It was superb. There was a lovely buzz in the restaurant and the service was excellent - efficient without making us feel rushed. We all agreed that we would eat there again next time we visited the city. 10 out of 10.

Petis Paris is a French gem set in the lovely Grassmarket area of Edinburgh; ia fabulous buzz and whilst it can be a little cramped in the upstairs part of the restaurant; the quality of the food, great wine and the service make it all worthwhile. Highly recommended.

It was a disappointment that the very good value set menu did not offer any vegetarian option - a bit of an oversight as not everyone can eat fish in place of meat. My companion enjoyed her al la carte starter veggie option but Petit Paris would do well to cater for all tastes on the set menu as well.

Now that the Festival has finished Petit Paris was less busy than of late but the mix of diners generated the usual typical |French bistro buzz. It is not a big restaurant and the fact that it has not tried to remove some of the original internal walls adds to its charm. it is very handy for the West End of Prices Street although the stairs might deter people who are infirm. Food was excellent with flavours bursting through.Deserts were to die for - return visit will not be too far off!
