About Montparnasse
If you are nostalgic for Paris -- and most everyone is, whether they've been there or not -- Montparnasse bar, cafe and restaurant in East Midtown should fulfill your yearning nicely. The awninged entry and the decor of the charming dining room couldn't be more Parisian. The walls are hung with French advertisements, the chairs and banquettes are regulation bistro accoutrements, the double table cloths, the ceiling fans, the wooden floor, and the way the whole place is suffused with the gold-tinged light of memory add up to a Left Bank ambience that transports you. The food, too, is classic French bistro cooking with a few modern additions. Try starter of country duck terrine with armagnac, baby greens and cornichons, main course of textbook coq au vin or award-winning steak frites, then finish with profiteroles. Wines are surprisingly international.Booking Tip: Please try to make your New York booking at least 48 hours in advance.

Montparnasse was a very enjoyable experience from arriving where our coats were amiably taken and shown to a good corner table. The food was very good with the striped bass on a black thai rice being the star dish. We all very much enjoyed the whole New York flavoured French amebience and i would reccomend the restaurant to anyone.Visitors
