About Michael Caines at ABode Hotel

Perfectly situated in the very heart of the City ABode Canterbury has opened after a multi million pound makeover. This new and exciting property really does have something for everyone. Its airy, stylish restaurant is the domain of Michelin star-winning restaurateur Michael Caines, much-admired for working closely with local suppliers, chefs and front-of-house staff to ensure each of his operations fully reflects the character of its community. In Canterbury a typical starter might be 'Raviolo of Kent lobster with Savoy cabbage and lobster bisque'. Caines creativity shines brighter still in mains such as 'Sirloin of Kent beef with horseradish potato puree and a red wine sauce'. An accomplished sommelier helps make the perfect wine choice. An intimate private party can be accommodated in the Chefs Table or the smart County Room comfortably seats up to 90 people.

Had a great meal at Michael Caines ABode Hotel. We had a constant flow of fresh bread, the service was good and the food was of a good quality. Any negatives? the portions are small...

We ate at Michael Caines at Abode Hotel for my husband's birthday. Complimentary canapes and a glass of champagne was a lovely start. The tasting menu, at £55 per head, seemed pretty reasonable and the food was delicious, although I felt that the menu could have done with a sharper tasting course to contrast with the predominantly rich and/or creamy tastes and to give the palette a break. I particularly liked the haricot bean soup and monkfish courses, while my husband loved the rabbit.
