About Mari e Monti
Mari e Monti is among Reading’s most romantic restaurants. One of two Italian restaurants on The Walk, it is run by Alberto and Julio and their wonderful team who know most diners by name. The atmosphere warms up further when on the night’s guest singers perform. Quality and freshness characterise the menu which, as you’d expect, specialises in fresh pasta and classic sauces. Favourites include octopus risotto, and chicken breast and oyster mushrooms with cream and dry Marsala sauce.
Please note for group bookings of 25 and over please give 1 weeks notice of cancellations other wise a charge will apply.Credit card details are required for groups of 10 and over.Please note there is a turn around time on tables on saturdays but not in the main restaurant.

Review
We selected from the Special menu, which was £8 for two courses and excellent value. The starters were ok - my husband had mussels and some were a little gritty; my bruscetta was very tasty. Our main course pasta was delicious and I would definately recommend a visit to try it. My dessert (creme caramel) was ok. It was difficult to score Mari e Monti on ambience as we ate early (6.30pm) on a Monday when the weather was appalling, so not too many other diners. People were arriving as we left.

Mari e Monti.....considering the reviews we were expecting great things but sadly disappointed....only two other diners on a cold evening....we have experienced it but won't be returning, the meals were just not that special..Review
The food was delicious The main courses were a departure from what we normally order - pasta and we were pleasantly surprised. I would strongly recommend the t-bone veal and the pancetta wrapped guinea fowl. The down side was that the portions were a bit on the large side- but as the food was delicious I have had to go to the gym for the following three days to counter what we ate ;-) The service was pretty good as well and the owner was very personable- checking to see if we were okay.Visitors
