Locale Italian restaurant in Blackheath is one dramatic dining room. The deep crimson walls offset dramatic chandeliers, gilt-framed mirrors, velvet drapery, dark wood chairs and tables, dark leather banquettes and spot-lit black and white photographs. Come, drink at the snug lounge bar, enjoy the fresh Italian cucina di casa and maybe have a little pose. Locale bake all their bread and make all of their pasta fresh every day using Italian flour and eggs for the genuine article. Try a starter of Tuscan Salad with broad beans, faro, Rocket and Pecorino Cheese or the Black tagiolini with crab, garlic, chilli and tomatoes, and dessert of affogato. It's beautiful food at affordable prices - unusual for the lovely London location. Sunday Brunch is very popular here and serves fine prime roast rib of beef with all the trimmings. Bookings advised. Locale tempts you further with unusual and boutique wines, fresh fruit cocktails and markedly good coffee.
