About Le Grand Café

It means simply 'The Big Cafe' and it has been big and glamourous and fun since 1875 when it made a splash among Parisian cafe society. The decor is original antique Art Deco, with scarlet banquettes, figured carpets, elegant brass details, and a wonderful stained glass ceiling. Its location can't be bettered, surrounded by fabulous shopping, theatres and hotels. Le Grand Cafe is open day and night and all Paris eventually finds its way here. The menu is so French. Try starter of French onion soup gratinee, main course of grilled entrecote of beef with bearnaise sauce and proper frites, and pudding of crepes aflame with Grand Marnier.

Upon arrival, please inform the restaurant that your booking was made via toptable.

Please specify when booking if you prefer to be in the smoking or no smoking area.
Please note that from the 1st of February 2008 all the restaurant in Paris will be totally no smoking.

Opening hours:

The best thing about le Grand Cafe is the stunning decoration. Take a camera. Turn of the Century (19th) murals, mirrors, carved woodwork, Tiffany ceiling. Amazing. Spacious, comfortable seating, pleasant sedate ambiance. The service was efficient and unhurried. Food was well presented. Main courses were small portions. Langustines with no accompaniment were sparse eating. My fish stew Marmite was more acceptably sized. Perhaps the other dishes would have been a better choice for the hungry.

A beautiful interior and general unpretencious ambience was complemented by friendly staff. A menu of reasonable variety, with portions that upon first sighting may appear small but as a 3 course are just right. You will leave this restuarant feeling comfortable. For those with little or no grip on the french language, English translations are available.
