About Le Croissant
Le Croissant restaurant in Paris has been here since 1820 and practically seen modern France created within its walls. Now sympathetically modernized, it is a typical French bistrot with warm atmosphere, all-day menu, and notable live jazz every Wednesday and Thursday evening. The leather banquettes, wooden tables and chairs and changing art exhibition create a relaxed, welcoming air. This area was once the centre of newspaper publishing so journalists, politicians and activists gathered here at Le Chope de Croissant for passionate arguments and drinking sessions. A plaque and newspaper cuttings commemorate the moment in 1914 that socialist leader Jean Jaures was assassinated as he sat at a window side table. A chalkboard menu changes frequently, listing dishes like starter of terrine de campagne with red onion confiture, main course of classic steak tartare with chips and salad, and dessert of Bailey’s crème brûlée. The wine list is French, ranging from pocket-friendly and quaffable to grand, even historic.

Le Croissant was amazing. Good location and easy to find. Delicious food in French style bistro. English speaking waiter was very helpful as I know very little French. However the Jazz band were not playing as the bassist had an injury! They did recommend other Jazz venues nearby & we received a small discount with our meal. Glad we stayed and ate there, as it was one of our favourite meals that w/e!

Les poissons sont excellents mais le tartare de boeuf est décevant tout comme le service. Peut-être une excellente adresse le midi, mais un peu triste le week-end.Visitors
