About La Garrigue
A superb and truly French restaurant in the heart of Old Town, La Garrigue offers the best of country French cooking enlivened with creative touches by chef-patron Jean-Michel Gauffre. The decor is modern rustic, with bare wooden floors, chairs and tables, the work of artist Tim Stead, offset by pale hyacinth walls. There are chatty notes on the menu. The ambience is relaxed. This is true cuisine de terroir of the Languedoc, Gauffre's own home. Here you'll find starter of warm tomato and rosemary tarte, main course of classic cassoulet, served with walnut salad, and heavenly dessert of lavender-flavoured creme brule. The heavily southern French wine list offers quality and good value.
Please note that La Garrigue only takes lunchtime bookings on Saturdays through Toptable.
Opening hours:
Mon - Sat 12pm - 2.30pm & 6.30pm - 10pm

La Garrigue was terrific. We had melon with a walnut sorbet which was fantastic, followed by the vegetarian option of cheese and onion tart - best ever - and then one portion of cheese and one of lemon tart, both of which were excellent. The service was very friendly and the bill very reasonable. We will certainly go again.Review
We chose on La Garrigue after reading a review on Toptable. Everything was great during the meal; food, service, wine etc. We had to wait a bit for the bill but this was not a big deal. The place was nicely spaced out so we weren't sat in other peoples pockets (pet hate). Only negative was a an uncomfortable chair at out table which meant the person sat in it was a few inches higher than the other plus uncomfortable to boot! We swapped a couple of times. Other wise a really enjoyable night.Review
This is our second visit to La Garrigue and that speaks for itself. Perhaps we were more critical this time but felt while the food and presentation were good that tiny faults detracted from an otherwise enjoable outing. The chicken pafait was perfect , the smoked seafood and potato salad satisfying and hearty without putting us off our main course. The chicken casserole with peas was very tasty while the saddle of lamb was tender with a delicious flavour but a little overcooked.Visitors
