Very glad we booked a restaurant for our first night in Venice, although this one was a tricky place to find without getting your bearings first. More pricey than expected (2 main courses and a bottle of wine for €100) but a lovely location and worth it for a special occasion. Excellent service.

Like almost all other Venitian restaurants, La Fenice is patronised almost exclusively by foreign tourists. But the food is good, the service friendly and efficient.

La Fenice, - Great food, helpful wine advice. Comfortable and stylish. Dear but not bad by Venice standards. Good choice for this family celebration. Quiet night and the staff hovered too much particularly when we had not all finished - V BAD. Had to ask for the bill 3 times and we were not in a rush. But worth a second visit.

I took my wife for a surprise trip to Venice and was looking for a traditional Venetian restaurant away from the crowds for our first night. We had a superb evening. Food was excellent matched by the friendly service and we sat outside surrounded by candle light. Taverna La Fenice is situated near the opera house, La Fenice but located just off one of the streets to make sure that it is away from the tourist hotspots. PS the calves Liver and seabass were excellent!

The restaurant was very italian, very smart and the food was good, but not cheap, so dont use this restaurant if your on a tight budget, its right by the opera house so a good place to eat before or after a performance

Lovely restaurant with fantastic food. Lots of Italians eating there so must be good! Quite expensive but worth it. The biggest plate of chocolates with your coffee you've ever seen!

La Fenice is tucked away at the back of the theatre and is well worth a visit. The food is excellently prepared and the wine list is ample. The service was also very good although this was not difficult with only three tables occupied. And here we have the only drawback...this beautiful old restaurant was nearly empty, on Easter Sunday, which is worrying. Due to this it lacked atmosphere and warmth. This restaurant deserves to be full.

The quality of the food is excellent and the service is good with 3 waiters attending to us at times - all good apart from 1 slip-up where one starter arrived much later than the rest. However, the bill was huge (Euro 415 for 6 people) which we thought was too much for what we ate - the cover charge was 5 Euros each + 10% for service which adds up to fair amount before you've even started. I guess this is par for the course in a very expensive city, Venice.
