About Konstam @ the Prince Albert

Konstam at the Prince Alfred is famous from its stint at the centre of the BBC2's Urban Chef series, which followed Head Chef Oliver Rowe's plight to source all of his produce from inside the M25. The result has been a success, and the restaurant is a hit with London's food lovers looking for an adventurous culinary experience. The dining room décor is extravagant – with teal coloured floors and chairs and draped silver lamps, and the cavernous space boasts high ceilings and a buzzy ambience. Signature dishes at Konstam restaurant include the charcoal grilled Mersea squid with caraway and fennel seed dressing, and the delicate Konstam castle cake with blackcurrant jam and lavender Chantilly cream.

This was very good, traditional english food in a small quaint restaurant. Well worth a visit but booking essential.

Excellent food cooked by BBC2 Urban Chief. The restaurant is a converted pub with the kitchen behind the bar so you can view your food being prepared. All incredients comes from within the M25 including the wine!. Nice ambience and quirky decor. Only thing against it's in the middle of Kings Cross and there are no desireable bars close by. Quite pricey for area but worth a visit.

We visited Konstam on a busy wednesday night. The menu itself is very appealing with a good variety. We ordered a pidgeon salad and some kind of polish pasta ( sorry forgotten what its called! ) for starters. Both were very tasty with well dressed and interesting salads. For main we had lamb with a pea and mint side and Pork with mashed potato and cabbage. There were very generous portions of high quality meat. Service was very friendly. Tables are close together so could be noisy.
